I work at the intersection of the philosophy of mind (particularly emotion), epistemology, and cognitive science.
I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Central European University, on the “Knowledge in Crisis” Project. Before joining CEU, I was a Swiss National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Researcher at the City University of New York Graduate Center, and at the University of Toronto. I completed my PhD in Philosophy jointly at the University of Geneva (Swiss Center for Affective Sciences) and at the Jean Nicod Institute in 2021.
My research focuses on the value of affective states for our epistemic lives. Here are some projects I have worked on:
- the nature of "epistemic anxiety", its role in epistemic states of doubt, and its contribution to epistemic virtue
- the role of cognitive feelings (confusion, uncertainty) in guiding our inquiries
- the nature and rationality conditions of hope, and its role in guiding mental time travel (the salience and valence of imagined futures)
